LiveBlogging the Weather Event of the (Late) Summer

10:30: I have officially decided it is too rainy to walk the 20 min to the bank and cash that check I have been meaning to cash.

10:40: Wind, light rain, checking weather blogs.

10:45: The cats are restless - either they are animals with a sixth sense about impending disasters, or they are pulling the same bastardly “hey we don’t recognize weekends and holidays so we will be loud at 10:30 a.m.” stuff they do every Saturday.

11:20: O look there is more rain.

12:00: The sound of light wind and rain outside our windows has prevented my roommate from waking up and signing our new lease.

12:15: Braved the storm to walk to leasing department. Equipement: Umbrella-ella; Anorak pre-tested in the wilds of Alaska’s Denali National Park; Checkbook.

12:18: Leasing office thinks it is hilarious that I left my apartment to sign this thing instead of waiting until tomorrow, which apparently would have been OK according to Maryland State Law.

12:20: We all talk about how it doesn’t look that bad, then wish each other good luck today, as though the storm was Day 9 of the Seige of Silver Spring.

12:24: Sandals officially, completely, waterlogged.

12:26: Returned to apartment soaked. Cats continue to remain on high alert.

12:42: Convince myself that eating all the frozen Amy’s Gluten-Free Dinners in the frieezer is good preparation for the upcoming BlackoutPalooza.

12:43: Microwave begins to hum.
